Troubleshooting
--------------
Our products are tested very thoroughly before they are released.
However, due to the great variety of multimedia systems we are
unable test every configuration. Most problems that may be
encountered come from old device drivers for video, CD-ROM,
and sound cards. Please make sure you have the most recent
versions of your systems drivers. If your system is brand new,
do not assume that the drivers included with your system are the
most recent versions.
IBM/PC
No sound is heard.
Check that the speakers are on.
Check that the speakers are connected to the sound card.
Check that the volume levels are turned up.
The program locks up or a "General Protection Fault Error"
message appears.
Make sure you are using the latest video and sound drivers for
your cards. Contact your video and sound card manufacturer to
get the most updated video driver or contact your computer vendor.
If you are using Windows 3.11 or Windows for Workgroups, try
using the Super VGA 640x480x256 color driver.
System Freezes, Crashes or General Protection Fault's are usually
caused by old Video Card drivers. Please make sure you have the
most resent drivers for your system by contacting your systems
manufacturer.
Application errors and General Protection Fault's are known to
occur when using older display drivers for video cards that use
the Cirrus Logic GD 5426 or 5428 chip set. Please use driver
version 1.5 or higher. You can tell if your system is using this
driver by opening the Windows Setup applet in the Main Group.
The driver name will be listed in the box labeled DISPLAY.
Contact your computer dealer or Cirrus Logic for the latest
driver. This is a common video card used in Pakard Bell's and
Acer computers.
We have had some reports that QEMM may cause memory errors.
If you are using QEMM and are experiencing memory errors, disable
QEMM.
Printing: if you try printing and the page comes out black, reduce the
resoultion setting to a lower setting such as 150 or 75 dpi.
Macintosh
No sound is heard.
Check that the speakers are on.
Check that the speakers are connected to the sound card.
Check that the volume levels are turned up.
The colors seem wrong.
Make sure your Monitor Control Panel is set to 256 colors.
Freezing or slow play.
Disable Ram Doubler, if you are using it.
Verify that Virtual Memory is turned off.
Turn off 32-bit addressing, if you have 8MB or less of built-in
RAM.
